Blind Tandem Challenge fundraiser @ Dockside

Saturday 15th June, Delifonseca Dockside held host to the ‘Blind Tandem Challenge’ team as they stopped off with us approx way through their epic Land’s End to John O’Groats 10 day cycle tour.
Aiming to raise money for Blind Veterans UK and Vision aid Overseas the challenge team consisted of Craig Lundberg, a veteran who lost his sight during rooftop battle in Basra 2007 and our very own Callum Edge (of Edge & Son Butchers) on bicycle tandem along with 9 solo cyclists.
While passing through Craig’s hometown of Liverpool, we thought it
would be a great idea to throw a welcome party for Craig & the team, encouraging
them on the next half of their journey and raising funds in the process.
From our “TopGear” style leaderboard fastest mile static cycle challenge to Blind Veterans UK merchandise, tea and coffee on sale and even sports massages provided by local therapist Treatment Table …all proceeds went towards hitting Craig’s target for the two charities.
As the afternoon progressed, Blind Veterans UK presented Craig with a commemorative plaque for his fundraising efforts and our head chef Martin Cooper laid on a fantastic carb-fuelled feast for the team; a HUGE & hugely delicious Mac & Cheese…mmmmm!
Incase you missed it… ITV’s Granada reports were on hand to cover the whole afternoon ….check it out
Pledges still greatly received, head here to donate.
